Human Resources Generalist

Nemmer Electric, Inc. is currently seeking an experienced HR Generalist. This individual will be well rounded in all aspects of HR, including benefits, recruiting, employee relations, employee engagement and more. The successful applicant will be self-motivated, collaborative and proactive.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for creating and modifying HR policies for a small, family owned business.
  • Work with leadership to enhance current practices to ensure legal and practical compliance
  • Review all existing employment files for accuracy
  • Responsible for company-wide recruitment for open positions
  • Completing desk audits to ensure an understanding of existing positions for future growth potential
  • Assist with employee relations issues that arise day-to-day
  • Respond to inquiries from Texas Workforce Commission on unemployment claims
  • Consult with the Controller on matters that intersect both accounting and HR functions
  • Assist Leadership team with researching benefits options, to include insurance, 401k, time off programs, etc.
  • Administration of benefits
  • Onboarding and offboarding of employees

Required Experience:

  • Candidate must have at least 3 years of experience in Human Resources functions.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft, Excel and Adobe.

Preferred Education/Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or field or equivalent.
  • SHRM or HRCI certified.

Electrical Estimator / Project Manager

Nemmer Electric, Inc. is currently seeking an experienced electrical estimator/project manager. This individual will play a key role in producing bids for projects and then managing theprojects they successfully bid to completion. To avoid the operational inefficiencies that result from staffing both dedicated project managers and dedicated estimators, we prefer a single individual who has the ability to effectively and efficiently bid and manage projects.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review proposal drawings and specifications to accurately determine the complete scope of work.
  • Bid projects with enough detail to provide accurate budgets, scope of work, and material take offs.
  • Prepare cost estimates based on full takeoff of all required materials and equipment within the scope of work in a timely manner. Compute labor units associated with takeoff using either NECA’S manual of labor units or our estimating software.
  • Work with contract administrator regarding bid document and contract requirements.
  • Manage, review, and submit project submittals and shop drawings for the assigned projects.
  • Prepare all submittals, shop drawings, and plan documents to successfully submit to customer and to transfer to the assigned Project Superintendent before project begins.
  • Create monthly billing progress, billing reports, and close out documentation.
  • Track cost and labor for assigned projects.
  • Offer design/build and design assist services.
  • Identify qualified and insured subcontractors where appropriate and solicit quotes as needed. Review quotes from subcontractors for accurate scope of work as per plans and specs.
  • Request payment, performance, and or maintenance bonds as required from our bonding agent and incorporate bonding cost into estimates.
  • Manage the jobs from mobilization to project completion. This includes communicating with the project superintendent, planning the project, ordering material as needed, physically visiting job sites once per week or when needed to check on progress, and attending customer meetings when requested. Procure major material and equipment purchases and issue purchase orders.
  • Assure foremen understand the scope of work and insure they report requests for work outside scope of work for timely pricing of change orders.
  • Work in the role of a consultant to assist employees within the organization to develop programs and promote solutions to enhance efficiency and/or effectiveness.
  • Promote the professional growth of the team.
  • Be able to adapt to the latest technology as needed.
  • Overtime may be required.

Required Experience/Licensure:

  • Candidate must have at least 3 years of experience in electrical estimating.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft, Procore, and Bluebeam software.
  • Must have a current State of Texas Journeymen or Master Electrician’s license.

Preferred Education:

  • Associates degree in the electrical/project management field or equivalent.

Electrical Superintendent 

OVERVIEW:

Function as a Superintendent for Nemmer Electric.; managing the labor, materials and production for electrical construction projects. Provide technical expertise in installing and troubleshooting electrical wiring and equipment. Work cooperatively with the general contractor and/or customer in managing the project, project schedule and employees. Monitor installations and ensure work is performed according to Nemmer Electric standards and project specifications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Install, repair, maintain and test commercial, industrial and residential electrical systems in full support of Nemmer Electric’s safety, operations and productivity initiatives.
  • Use industry related hand and power tools.
  • Measure, cut, bend thread etc. and install conduit, wire and electrical cable and other raceway systems.
  • Splice and terminate wires.
  • Troubleshoot equipment electrical systems and control circuits.
  • Responsible for supervision of all field production activities; Provide assistance to the Foreman in planning the job, ordering materials and establishing manpower.
  • Work with appropriate Project Managers and Area Superintendents to establish project goals at the beginning of the project and monitor success in reaching those objectives on an ongoing basis.
  • Review and monitor labor efficiencies, hours and ratios. Project the labor needs for the duration of the project
  • Monitor codes and specifications, installation methods.
  • Prepare, review, distribute and/or maintain all required installation documentation.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to sub-Foremen and complete necessary documentation of employee disciplinary actions.
  • Work with the appropriate Project Managers and Area Superintendents to track and monitor material costs, storage, consumed and ordered to identify potential problems while minimizing cost and overruns to Nemmer Electric.
  • Achieve Nemmer Electric. productivity objectives by effectively managing and assigning tasks to crew members, while maintaining an accurate labor tracking log and communicating with other key project personnel
  • Utilize a proactive approach to anticipate and resolve potential issues.
  • Ensure the proper safety equipment, materials and tools are onsite to perform required work.
  • Maintain complete and accurate “as-builts” as per Nemmer Electric. procedures and project requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals including project owners, architects, general contractors, management, crew members, etc.
  • Keep a Daily journal at each job site.
  • Adhere to project contract document changes and Nemmer Electric’s change order notice-to-proceed policies.
  • Adhere to all Nemmer Electric., state and federal safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all work performed meets with NEC, federal, state, county, local codes and contract documents.
  • Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures included in the Nemmer Electric Employee Handbook.

 SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:  

  • A minimum of three to five years of experience working as an Electrical Foreman/General Foreman/Superintendent or in a similar role in electrical construction, design and cost management for commercial or industrial projects.
  • Must hold a current Journeyman or Master Electrician license (if required by the applicable state, city or county).
  • Advanced abilities in reading and interpreting electrical plans and specifications with in-depth knowledge of the NFPA codes.
  • Demonstrated track record of successful project leadership with experience managing sub-Foremen.
  • Capable of managing any type of private or public sector electrical construction project including new construction, tenant improvements, etc.
  • Solid understanding of the electrical codes and installation methods.
  • Well-versed in the installation of power systems: lighting, fire protection, security and data networks.
  • Comfortable utilizing Electrical Single Line blueprints. 
  • Experience in verifying the compliance and functionality of installations.
  • Knowledgeable in the identification and repair of faults in electrical apparatus and circuits.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively order and track materials, perform cost projections and develop “as builts”.
  • Strong knowledge and experience related to scheduling, material lead times, product knowledge and installation durations. 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and PDF documents.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

Physical DemandsThe employee may require the ability to do the following:

  • Lift 50 lbs. from ground and pull 50 lbs. of force.
  • Perform ladder climbing, wire pulling and conduit pulling.
  • Fully squat, stoop or kneel while wearing a 25 lb. tool belt.
  • Maintain a standing position for long periods of time while performing repetitive actions such as grasping or manipulating wires.
  • Work off ladders, man lifts or reach booms.

Working EnvironmentWhile performing duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to:

  • A variety of weather conditions including cold, snow, rain, heat, etc.

NEI Datacom Low Voltage Technician

NEI Datacom is seeking individuals who possess knowledge and/or experience in the following:

  • Data cabling
  • Voice cabling
  • Security systems
  • Fiber optic cabling
  • Fire alarm installation
  • Access control systems
  • CCTV systems
  • Audio Visual systems, including overhead paging, intercoms, etc.

This is a multi-faceted position requiring attention to detail, the ability to meet strict deadlines, as well as exhibit excellent customer service.

Skills or knowledge desired, but not required are:

  • A current State of Texas Security Alarm Installer License
  • A current State of Texas Fire Alarm Installer License
  • A current State of Texas Electronic Access Control Device Installer License
  • A current State of Texas Fire Extinguisher License
  • Project management experience
  • Specific product manufacturers installation certification- (ex: Panduit, TE, Corning)

Requirements:

  • Must be able to pass background check and drug screen
  • Must own your own tools

Service Electrician

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Install, repair, maintain, and test commercial, industrial, and residential electrical systems in full compliance with safety procedures and policies

Troubleshoot equipment, electrical systems, and control circuits

Communicate effectively with customers and staff

Demonstrate the highest levels of professionalism and courtesy when interacting with colleagues, customers, and vendors

Employ new technologies and be committed to remaining up to date with them

Install power, lighting, and control systems

Read and interpret electrical schematics

Locate and repair faults in electrical systems and circuits

Verify compliance and functionality of installations

Document work orders efficiently including correct details

Fleet Mechanic

Position Description

Incumbent will perform scheduled preventative maintenance and necessary repairs to automobiles, trucks (light and heavy), trailers, vans, electric scissor lifts, pallet jacks, forklifts and small equipment such as small engine pumps and generators. This experienced individual also disassembles and overhauls motors, transmissions, clutches, rear ends, electrical systems, back hoes, trenchers, skid steers and mini excavators.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair fleet equipment and perform preventative maintenance.
  • Diagnose vehicle failures and disassemble, repair and reassemble parts as necessary.
  • Adhere to OSHA, DOT and EPA regulatory compliance standards. Respond to service calls.
  • Complete all necessary documents, including vehicle records.
  • Maintain cleanliness in areas of work and tools.
  • Maintain records of daily check list (pre-trip inspections).
  • Pick up and deliver vehicles.
  • Manage ordering and inventory of parts.
  • Perform assigned duties in a safe and productive manner.
  • Follow the direction of Supervisors
  • Maintain accurate records
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)
  • 3 years or more of mechanic experience
  • Must be able to work on all types of vehicles (diesel trucks, electric and propane forklift, etc…) Lift, push, and pull a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Able to supply your own set of tools to perform the job
  • Willing and able to acquire the necessary certifications and licenses needed for the position within the first year of employment to include: ASE Heavy and Medium duty certification, brake and annual inspection certification, and A/C certification
